I am the third in a generation of photographers in my family. My Grandfather was a keen amateur and once vice president of The Irish Photographic Society. He was awarded distinction with the FIAP the international Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), the worldwide body for photographic art .
My Father also had a distinction from FIAP, he and my Mother  were award winning professional photographers working mainly in the commercial and advertising  business in Ireland, who's careers spanned several decades.
Me, well obviously I have a lot of family history  to live up to when it comes to photography. I have exhibited in London and Dublin. My work has been featured in the Irish Times and the Guardian newspapers and comercials for Huawei phones.
Last year I was selected by the famous British Photographer Rankin to be a contributor to his book 'Rankins 2020' which documented images of the pandemic.
I am aIso a contributing photographer to a new book by the Gallery of Photography on a book recording images taken during Lockdown.
I was runner up in the NME awards for festival photography in 2010. In 2016 I won the 'No Filter' award in the SNAPYS, the Irish independent Instagram awards for a Light painting image and was nominated for awards in several other categories. Three years ago I was awarded a Licentiateship by  The Irish Photographic federation (LIPF). I am currently working towards a distinction by  FIAP and if I achieve this goal I will be the third generation in my family to hold this distinction.
For me Photography is a meditative process.  A healing medium for when I have no words left. A way to communicate, a way to recharge and re-center myself. When I look through a viewfinder my life outside its frame disappears and my focus (if you will forgive the pun!) lies wholly with the scene coming through the lens. In order to clear my own head I need to immerse myself in the often empty scenes I like to photograph.
I am currently working on several projects involving Light Painting and several involving my documenting the Pandemic.
I am also starting out on cataloging the large family collection of photographs that date back as far as the 1870's.
Thanks for visiting my Portfolio.
